Flanders shipping assistance division: improving safety in port of zeebrugge with an integral new communication system by Tein Technology
Flanders Shipping Assistance Division (afdeling Scheepvaartbegeleiding of the Vlaamse Overheid, Agentschap Maritieme Dienstverlening en Kust) have ordered a complete renewal of current communication system of the Port of Zeebrugge, to further improve their maritime services. Tein Technology was selected to carry out the assignment.
A comprehensive communication system for the future
When planning the renewal of the old system, there were two key aspects which the new communication system had to integrate: communication with all ships entering, leaving and active within the harbour, the Boudewijnkanaal to Bruges and private internal communication channels for the port authorities.
A strategy that meets every challenge
When laying out the framework for this assignment, the Tein Technology team knew that flexibility was key. A system was developed that made it easy to move or add equipment and operators when needed, with a plug & play-system. Flexibility had to go hand in hand with stability, since the shortest downtime could have great consequences for the port industry. Full coverage needed to be guaranteed. And so Tein Technology delivered.
Voice logging, both central and local
All conversations taking place over the new communication system are recorded. Everything is logged on a central server as well as locally, thus allowing operators to replay certain parts of their communications as they occur.
This fully secure and state-of-the-art communication system will support the Port of Zeebrugge for the years to come and will provide all maritime traffic with the highest possible level of crisp clear communication.
