Tein Technology to Implement Incident Management System for Safer Coastal Regions

The implementation of the IMS at MRCC Ostend is a significant step towards safer coastal and marine regions, and Tein Technology looks forward to delivering the project successfully.

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) states in Article 98 that: “Every coastal State shall promote the establishment. operation and maintenance of an adequate and effective search and rescue service regarding safety on and over the sea.”.

In Belgium, this task is performed by the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Center (MRCC) in Ostend. The MRCC is the first point of contact for all incidents at sea, such as collisions, oil spills, incidents involving recreational vessels and swimmers. The MRCC is available 24/7 to ensure safety at sea and to guarantee a smooth handling of incidents. The MRCC’s area of operation extends to the borders of the Belgian territorial waters and the Exclusive Economic Zone IEEZI.
